Amplitude mobile A.I. Music App

In today's digital music landscape, listeners seek more than just access to songs—they crave personalized, immersive, and interactive experiences that go beyond passive listening. However, existing streaming platforms focus primarily on algorithmic recommendations and playlist curation, leaving gaps in lyric exploration, interactive engagement, and creative user participation.

Project Overview

The Product

A dedicated iOS Mobile Application.

Role

My roles in the project were lead UX designer, UX researcher, Interaction Designer, Visual Designer, Motion Designer.

The Goal

A dedicated mobile app that allows users expressive interactions and experiences with music using A.I.

Duration

January 2025 - June 2025

My Responsibilities

My responsibilities included, user research, wireframing, prototyping, Ideating, Case study planning and Testing, refining.

Key Challenges:

  1. Limited Immersive Features – Traditional music videos and static playlists do not offer interactive or adaptive elements that enhance user engagement.

  2. Lack of Contextual Lyric Understanding – Many listeners struggle to grasp the deeper meanings, translations, and cultural significance of song lyrics, especially in multi-language music discovery.

  3. Rigid Genre Boundaries – Current discovery tools do not allow users to blend multiple genres seamlessly, limiting exposure to fresh, hybrid sounds.

  4. Missed Creative Opportunities for Fans – Music enthusiasts and amateur creators lack legal and accessible ways to remix, customize, or engage with songs beyond passive listening.

Our Solution: Amplitude A.I.
This digital music streaming platform redefines how users interact with music by integrating:

  • AI-powered lyric exploration for deeper understanding, translations, and contextual insights.

  • Interactive music videos where users influence visuals and narratives.

  • Genre-blending tools that allow seamless fusion of different musical styles.

  • A fan-powered remix platform that enables legal and collaborative remixing with built-in artist permissions.

  • Adaptive soundscapes that personalize listening experiences based on mood, activity, or environment.

By bridging the gap between passive listening and interactive engagement, this platform empowers users to experience, explore, and create music in new ways, fostering deeper connections between artists, fans, and the music itself.

Understanding The Market

Research Insights Related to the Current Mobile Phone Market

  • Mobile as a primary creation hub:
AI music tools are increasingly designed for mobile-first use, especially for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts creators. This mirrors how mobile devices have become the default recording, editing, and publishing platforms for casual creators.

  • App integration race:
Udio and Boomy already lean into mobile-friendly workflows, while APIs from Mubert and Loudly hint at future integrations with mobile editing apps like CapCut, VN, or Adobe Rush.

  • Hardware implications:
As AI music services shift more processing to the cloud, mobile hardware requirements matter less for rendering, but 5G and Wi-Fi 6/6E speeds become crucial for fast generation and download.

  • Licensing transparency will drive mobile adoption:
Mobile app marketplaces (Apple App Store, Google Play) are increasingly strict on copyright content. AI music apps with clear, platform-friendly licensing will have an easier time getting approved and staying live.

  • Learning Curve:
Current products are designed for advanced users leaving some intermediate, beginner and casual users ignored.

  • Cloud Processing:
Current mobile platform hardware are at a disadvantaged to A.I. products which majorly uses cloud processing.

Understanding The User

User Research:

From user research questionnaires and surveys music and podcast enthusiasts today seek more than just streaming songs/content—they desire a platform that delivers personalized, interactive, and creative experiences. Current services prioritize playlists and algorithmic recommendations but fall short in providing deeper engagement, such as lyric exploration, genre blending, or legal creative outlets for fans.

User Needs

- Lyric Insights: Listeners want to uncover the meaning, translations, and cultural context of lyrics, particularly for songs in different languages.

- Interactive Visuals: They seek music videos where they can shape the visuals or narratives.

- Genre Exploration: Users desire tools to seamlessly mix genres and discover unique, hybrid sounds.

- Creative Opportunities: Fans want legal ways to remix or customize songs and collaborate with others.

- Personalized Experiences: They need music that adapts to their mood, activity, or environment for a tailored listening experience.
